Stephanie Kunze is serving her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She represents the 24th Ohio House District, which includes portions of western and southwestern Franklin County. She is running for State Senate because she cares deeply about Ohio’s future and wants to continue serving the state she has come to love and call home.
Stephanie and her husband, Matt have been happily married for the past 21 years. They have two wonderful daughters, one attending The Ohio State University and the other in high school. Her father is a Vietnam Veteran who started college after his return home from the war, marrying Stephanie’s mom and starting a family.
Stephanie graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a BA in English. After college, Stephanie relocated to Ohio where she has focused much of her adult life exclusively on service to her family and community. She has spent her time serving the community she loves through volunteer leadership and service. Stephanie also has a passion for advocating for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
She is a founding member of Local Level, whose mission is to connect people to their community and to support local businesses. The website www.localevelevents.com was created to give people the platform to get to know their community better and encourage those who live and work in the area to support their local businesses, schools and community. Through her work in her community as a volunteer, Stephanie felt the call for public service.
She answered the call by running for Hilliard City Council. As the top vote-getter in her first run for office, Stephanie felt that her work as a leader in the volunteer community together with her strong work ethic and ability to communicate were key reasons for the people of Hilliard to trust her with their vote. As a member of Council she has served as Chair of the Recreation & Parks Committee, as a member of Finance & Administration, Safety & Legal Affairs Committees and also served as the DARE Liaison for Council, representing the City of Hilliard at all Hilliard City School elementary DARE graduations.
In her second term as state representative, Stephanie serves on the House Finance Committee, Finance Subcommittee on Primary and Secondary Education, Insurance, Rules and Reference and State Government Vice Chair. Additionally, Stephanie has served as a member of the Attorney General Mike DeWine’s DARE Task Force and a member of “Ohio Communities 4 Kids.” Stephanie serves as an elected member of the Franklin County Republican Party Central Committee, where she has campaigned to support candidates in all branches and levels government.
Stephanie was appointed as Co-Chair of the Infant Mortality Commission for 131st General Assembly by Speaker Cliff Rosenberger and was recently recognized as a top emerging Republican leader by GOPAC.
